Oudenaarde is a city rich in brewing tradition and has many local breweries that offer tours and tastings for all of you beer enthusiasts.
Smisje Brewery
Smisje Brewery is one of the best microbrewers in Belgium, located just 8km from our hotel. Visit the Smisjes Biercafé every Sunday from 2pm – 7pm May to October, guided brewery tours are possible with advance reservations.
Liefmans Brewery
The old Liefmans Brewery in Oudenaarde has been largely restored to its original glory. Surrounding this historic Brewery you will encounter the microflora that makes Liefmans beers so unique. Pay a visit and experience a guided tour of the brewery itself, a history of the dark beer of Belgium as well as Beer pouring lessons & tastings.
Roman Brewery
For over 4 centuries Mater has hosted the brewing family Roman. Originally starting in 1545 the brewing tradition has passed from father to son. Set up in a small village which was a resting point for a major road connection between Germany to France, starting out a small side business later became their main activity.
When visiting the Roman Brewery you will receive a history of the Roman family, a guided tour, samples & a gift pack. It is only possible to book a tour directly with the company and minimum numbers are required.
